How to clean the indoor dog bed
Cleaning your indoor pet's bed is important to maintain a healthy environment, free of unpleasant odors, parasites, or bacteria, and therefore hygienic and comfortable for both us and our four-legged friend. Here's how to do it step by step:
- Remove everything—cushions, blankets, and toys—and shake or vacuum away any hair or visible dirt.
- Wash the fabrics:
Check the labels: most non-removable covers and cushions are machine washable. Check the washing instructions. Generally, warm water (40°–60°C) and a mild detergent are fine. If possible, add a little white vinegar (it helps eliminate odors and disinfect).

Air dry thoroughly or tumble dry (if indicated).
- Clean the indoor pet bed frame:
If it's made of plastic, wash with warm water and neutral soap; do not use abrasive powders or tools.
For a deeper clean, you can use a 1:1 solution of water and vinegar or a pet-friendly disinfectant.
Rinse well and let dry completely.
If the bed frame is made of wood, dry cleaning with a dry brush and vacuum cleaner is recommended. Avoid parquet or furniture cleaning products, as they may contain substances that are irritating to pets.
- Reassemble everything
Once everything is dry, replace the clean cushions and blankets.
You can add a few drops of lavender essential oil (if your pet tolerates it) with a cloth for a light scent.
How often?
Once a week if your pet sleeps in the bed frequently.
Every 2-3 weeks if your pet uses it less often.
